TriestEspresso Expo - October 26, 2024
On October 26, 2024, the city of Trieste will host one of the most anticipated events in the coffee world: the World Latte Art Grading Championship (WLAGS), taking place within the renowned international fair, TriestEspresso Expo. This global competition will showcase the best latte artists from selected countries for 2024 (the participants will be revealed on the day of the competition, with over 20 of the world's finest expected) in a thrilling display of creativity, technique, and precision that will captivate coffee lovers and professionals alike.
A competition inspired by martial arts
What sets WLAGS apart is its unique structure, inspired by martial arts championships. Competitors will face off at various skill levels: Green, Red, Black, and Gold, mirroring the belt system of martial arts, where each color represents an increasingly advanced level of skill. This tiered system allows for an assessment of the baristas' mastery in creating stunning latte designs on espresso, blending technical precision with artistic expression.
International jury
The artistic performances will be judged by an international panel of 7 judges, carefully selected from top experts across various countries. Each judge brings a wealth of experience and expertise, ensuring an impartial and highly professional evaluation.
Event program:
10:00 AM: Opening ceremony with the official presentation of all participants.
Competition : Starting with the Green level challenges, followed by the Red, Black, and finally, the top contestants will compete in the prestigious Gold level.
Afternoon: The finals of each category will take place after the preliminary rounds.
Around 5:00 PM: Awards ceremony for the champions of each level.
WLAGS has become a must-attend event for anyone wishing to witness the best of latte art on a global scale. Each challenge will be a moment of high creative tension, as the performances are not time-restricted, allowing baristas the freedom to showcase their skills.
